Rubra Astrantia is revered by garden and floral designers alike for its wine-red bracts that surround pincushion-like domes of similarly colored florets. The form of its flat, dense flower clusters is reminiscent of Queen Anne’s lace. Once established, these attractive flowers grow easily. Removing spent blooms encourages more buds. Flowers may be cut fresh or dried for winter arrangements.
